"If you intend to live in the Story that God is telling, and if you want the life he offers, then you are going to need more than a handful of principles, however noble they may be.  There are too many twists and turns in the road ahead, too many ambushes waiting only God knows where, too much at stake.  You cannot possibly prepare yourself for every situation.  Narrow is the way, said Jesus.  How shall we be sure to find it?  We need God intimately, and we need him desperately." ---John Eldredge in Waking the Dead: The Glory of a Heart Fully Alive

"God doesn't call us to be comfortable.  He calls us to trust Him so completely that we are unafraid to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if He doesn't come through." ---Francis Chan in Crazy Love

"There is a deeper, an internal simplification of the whole of one's personality, stilled, tranquil, in child-like trust listening ever to Eternity's whisper, walking with a smile into the dark." ---Thomas Kelly in A Testament of Devotion

"There is a price to be paid for the privilege of seeing the view from the top of the mountain.  But it is worth it, for on a clear day you really can see forever." ---Walter Albritton in Lord, Please Deliever me, I Beg You, from Another Live Manger Scene

"We cannot talk to God unless we walk with Him when we are not talking." ---Oswald Chambers
