"Circumstances and forces over which we have little control surround you and me, but God is caught in none of these and can protect us in the midst of them." ---Dennis Kinlaw in This Day With the Master

"How careful we should be over the books we read, the companionship and friendship that we form, the recreations that we take part in. Such are some of the processes by which our characters are being made." ---F. B. Meyer

"As a Christian you have to live in the midst of an ungodly world, and it is of little use for you to cry 'Woe is me.' Jesus did not pray that you should be taken out of the world, and what he did not pray for, you need not desire. Better far in the Lord’s strength to meet the difficulty, and glorify him in it." ---Charles Haddon Spurgeon

"To be truly alive is to start over again every day.  In one sense life is a perpetual response to the the call to 'start your engine.'  Every day there is a new race, a new challenge, a new opportunity." ---Walter Albritton in Life is Short So Laugh Often, Live Fully and Love Deeply

"Eating alone is better than mingling with those whose conversation is negative.  Cancelling the appointment is better than keeping the appointment with those who will simply waste our time.  Changing the conversation is better than prolonging a conversation designed to degrade someone." ---Jim Rohn in The Seasons of Life
