"Hope is a promise.  Hope is a promise that holds our hearts forward to a better day, that lifts us above the present darkness of a bad stretch and keeps us buoyant in the midst of turbulence and trouble." ---James Ryle

"We have grown dull toward this world in which we live; we have forgotten that it is not normal or scientific in any sense of the word.  It is fantastic.  It is fairy tale through and through.  Really now.  Elephants?  Caterpillars?  Snow?  At what point did you lose your wonder at it all? ---John Eldredge in Epic

"[You can have] dreams that usually don't become reality because they don't have enough clarity.  The human mind won't move in the direction of a generality; it will move when it has something specific to aim at." ---Hal Urban in Life's Greatest Lessons: 20 Things That Matter

"In the evening I went very unwillingly to a society in Aldersgate-Street, where one was reading Luther's preface to the Epistle to the Romans.  About a quarter before nine, while he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed.  I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone for salvation: And an assurance was given me, that he had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death." ---John Wesley, May 24, 1738

"God gives us songs in the midst of our trials and teaches us lessons in the storm that we could never learn in the sunshine." ---Dennis Kinlaw in This Day With the Master
