Quotes for the Day - August 14, 2010

"I am willing to view every circumstance I face as an opportunity to receive the correction and instruction of Jesus. In this instruction, He will reveal Himself to me. I will be enabled to know Him better; we shall be intimate. I will face the difficult circumstances without complaints; I will embrace them as stepping stones to greater knowledge of His person. In the embrace of Jesus all things work together for good (Romans 8:28). My confidence is in Jesus!" ---Stephen Manley

"The world will never be taken for God by a church needing repentance, but by one filled with the Holy Ghost." ---Beverly Carradine in A Box of Treasure

"At the end of our lives, it will not matter how many times we have been 'right' in our arguments with fellow believers. Indeed some of us may need to admit that we are not always right! Sometimes we can be right in our opinion but wrong in allowing a self-righteous attitude to weaken our witness." ---Walter Albritton in Life is Short

"Am I prepared to let God grip me by His power and do a work in me that is worthy of Himself? Sanctification is not my idea of what I want God to do for me; sanctification is God's idea of what He wants to do for me, and He has to get me into the attitude of mind and spirit where at any cost I will let Him sanctify me wholly." ---Oswald Chambers

"It is not enough that we should receive the Holy Spirit. We must have Him in fullness--He must have us fully. He is not holding out on us. He does not have to be begged and coaxed to come in. Long seasons of groaning and struggling are not necessary to make Him willing to enter. Jesus' word for it is: 'Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him' (Rev. 3:20). He stands and knocks at our heart's door.

If there is any delay, any struggle, any begging and coaxing, it is due, not to His unwillingness but to our difficulty in getting the door open." ---Everett L. Cattell in The Spirit of Holiness

"Look out for [these] opportunities of Christian service, for the life which is hidden with Christ in constant fellowship has an extraordinary power in setting free lives which are bound in fetters of iron." ---F. B. Meyer
